Fry-Day Friday

'Ello all,
Well, one more post before the weekend kiddies. OMG, my post title is just amazing, I am on fiiiiiire this week, you just don't see blog titles this tacky anymore, so refreshing, isn't it? So I mentioned earlier that I do not wear heels, because I like my feet, which is true. I think some people's feet are just made out of rock, mine are fragile like your grandmother's crystal animal collection.

But I do own some heels, and since I was bored, I decided to give my feet a glam photoshoot... In front of my door, I am living on the edge people. Oh yeah, yes, yes, I do have freakishly tiny ankles, I really do. That is why I can't wear skinny jeans, or tight boots, it throws off the whole leg proportion.

I just couldn't resist throwing my moccasins in there, they're honestly the greatest shoes, so comfy. Yes'm. Have great weekend everybody, toodles.

Thirsty Thursday

So I went a little bonkers on Saks Fifth online website, who hasn't? Am I right? Am I right? I don't know which I ones I want the most yet... I think Holt Renfrew (SFA Canadian equivalent) should invest a little money into creating an online store as well, a lot money lost there, all I'm saying...

Like my uber creative blog titles? I swear, I may have found my new calling... TITLE MASTER, dun dun dun. Very Impressive, I friggin' know. Toodles childrens.

//EDIT// No friggin' waaaay, so Topshop is going to open a store in Toronto on June 19th, holy @#$%^&*ing flaming monkeys! Apparently, they're knocking down a wall at Jonathan + Olivia's and putting a Topshop in there, can this get any better? First Canadian Topshop, thank the fashion gods that it's going to be in Toronto. So, I'm putting this on my calendar, it's opening at 9AM, and you bet your ass I will be there, armed to the teeth, ready to elbow all the skinny chicks out of my way. Yesss.

We-We-Wednesday

So it's Wednesday, I'm listening to some uplifting Jack PeƱate, oh yes. Okay, so yesterday I came across a Jake Gyllenhaal portrait, and I think it's the most adorable portrait I have ever seen, he's such a dork, but you know, in an adorable way...

Anywho, Nylon Magazine displayed some tidbits from MiuMiu's Autumn/Winter 2010 accessories collection, and I will say that I'm not a fan of the hangbags, one of them looks like Kermit in latex... It just looks like someone got too excited with a glue gun and just glued all sorts of shit to anything and everything. But I do like the shoes, I don't wear heels myself, I'm 5'7 and a HALF (very important), and I tower over most normies anyway, plus I actually like my feet and I want to keep them. But here are the heeeeeeeeeeeels. The black pair is cute, and perfect for them girly girls who like flowers and pastel colours, you know what I'm talking about?

And finally, just for pure entertainment value, I want to introduce you to the Jimi Wallet! So, yesterday I'm browsing through Function 13's online store, as all self-respecting people do, and I come across this wallet, and it amused me so much, I am considering buying one for myself.

This is meant to be the solution for bulky wallets (do you like the pretty Canadian $20 bill in the upper photo?). I think it just looks adorably nerdy, and I feel like I need it in my life. I will obviously go there in person, pssht ordering online is for non-Torontonians... Mwuaha... We should all get one and start a revolution. I'm not sure if they deliver outside of Canada, but if they do, or if you got one, let me know. Alright, well Imma go make meself a fat-ass sandwich. Toodles.

Slow Tuesday

'Ello all,
Well, it's Tuesday, and it's a slow day for me. But how are you? My mind, as of late, has been occupied with a single object. It is my new love (second to a Soy Vanilla Latte), and I want it so bad... I might have to kill. Dangerous waters I know.


This beauty right here is a Coach shoulder bag, retailing at $768. Honestly, I cannot stop looking at it, summer is here, and this baby needs to be in my hand... Right now. But considering the fact that I am a student, and with my summer job, this would cost me 2 weeks of work (because with tax this bag would end up costing $868), it seems unrealistic. So, if anyone, out of the goodness of their rich heart, wants to buy this gorgeous piece of leathery deliciousness for me, I am down with it. My question is, is there a bag that you have been craving lately? For summer, or just because? 

And today, particularly, thanks to my Twitter sources, I have been envying the talents of Emmanuel Polanco, who, the damn bastard, is incredibly talented, and is amazing at, well, being amazing.

Ottawa Trip



Hooray Ottawa! Zee capital. It's a pretty good-lookin' city, loads of architecture, very tidy, and loads of things to do. It was friggin' hot out today, 30 degrees I think, but nonetheless... The man in the last photo is amazing, I'm not sure if that's his regular spot or not, but that is in the ByWard Market oooooon William St., right in front of Pure Gelato, so check him out. So now everyone go to Ottawa and appreciate everything. I will try to post something more interesting next time. Toodles.

Howdy peoples of the world,

Hmm, so this is my first blog on Blogger... I own a seperate website, but I got tired of taking care of it, so Imma just hang out here for now.

So, this blog will be for anything that tickles my fancy, and since recently I've been baking more than Mrs. Fields, I'll be talking about that every so often.

See, here's the thing with this whole baking business... A vast chunk of the world's population is lactose intolerant as far as I am concerned, and since I look up statistics quite obsessively, let us trust my information. So, why the hell are there so few dairy free options for us? How many places serve baked foods sans milk? How about caffeinated drinks? Unless you live in a hipster neighbourhood, probably very few. 

Now, I'm currently in a long term relationship with Starbucks, we might get married sometime... Starbucks is like El Dorado for me, in a country stuffed with Tim Hortonses, which do NOT serve dairy free drinks (ARGH), it is the only way. I can get a latte, frapuccino, coffee with soy milk... Heh, it makes me tear up just thinking about it.

Anywho, point being is that lactose intolerant people get the ass side of everything food. Well, Imma do something about it! I've been baking sweets lately, and I bake them always dairy free, and sometimes completely vegan. I'm not a vegan, but I'm a lactose intolerant vegetarian, which is almost the same thing, so yes. So, anytime I have a new recipe that I tested out, I'll just post the sucker up, and you guys can try it out yourself, mmkay? I will also post a bunch of useless crap in-between, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Today is my elder brother's birthday, he turned 22, HOORAY!!! He's old(er). He doesn't get any special privileges anymore though, 16 is when you can get your license, 19 you can drink, 21 you can drink and gamble in the USA, and 22... You're one step closer to 30 I guess. But point being, that I baked him some chocolate chip cookies this morning, which look delicious if I do say so myself.


The recipe is borrowed from Bakerella and re-modeled to be dairy-free.

INGREDIENTS
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tpsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs (you can use egg replacer, if you're a vegan)
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips

Some brands of chocolate chips do not use milk, or just buy dairy-free dark chocolate (e.g. Lindt Excellence 70% Cacao chocolate) and break it into small chunks, works just as well.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 Celsius)
2. In a separate bowl mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
3. With a mixer beat the butter and sugar until well blended.
4. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
5. In halves, add the flour mixture until combined.
6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
7. Scoop the cookies onto parchment paper covered baking sheet, keep 2 inches apart.
8. Bake 8-10 minutes, if you bake for 10 minutes the cookies will be very soft and chewy, if you bake for 15-20 minutes they will be crispy on the outside and soft inside, so it depends of your preference.

* If you don't have a mixer, you are welcome to stir the dough with a spoon, just use the back of the spoon to help you blend the sugar and the margarine. The cookies will have a rougher texture, which is not a bad thing at all, they will taste the same anyway.

Alright, well I'm tired of typing, and I want more cookies. I will bake something tomorrow as well, and I'm going to Ottawa on Sunday, so more photos next time. Toodles peeps.
